Club Competitions

RULES GOVERNING CLUB COMPETITIONS

All games shall be played under the laws adopted and published by the English Bowling Federation, but subject to these rules:

  1. A Competitions Secretary shall be appointed annually and shall have sole jurisdiction over the whole event/s for which they are responsible.

  2. All entrants or substitutes shall be accountable to their respective competition leader and shall be guided by them and abide by their decisions. All substitutes must also be members of the Club and must not have played for more than one team in the same competition in that particular bowling year.

  3. In all Club competitions the first name/s drawn is considered to be the "challenger" and will be responsible for the competition being played on or before the stated date.

  4. Any competitor/s having given the opposing player/s, two or more dates without reaching agreement, may appeal to the Competition Secretary, who, after satisfying themselves of the facts shall have discretionary power to award the tie.

  5. In the event of any competitor/s failing to appear on the agreed date, or within 30 minutes of the arranged time, which would ultimately affect or prevent the game being completed, the problem should be reported to the Competitions Secretary, whose decision shall be final. (Having taken into account unforeseen circumstances such as illness or travel problems).

  6. Choice of rink will be drawn in the event of several games taking place at the same time. Priority of draw will be by mutual agreement between competitors.

All competition finals shall be played on a day determined at the Annual General Meeting, All participating competitors reaching the finals should be available on that agreed date to play or forfeit the game. Alternatively, by special concession of the Club's Committee, re-arrange the final to satisfy all parties concerned

DRESS CODE. Any member who is successful in reaching a Club final will be expected to wear a Club shirt, white pullover/cardigan (if needed) and grey trousers/skirt. In the event that this rule being ignored (subject to extenuating circumstances) the player will be disqualified and the game awarded to the opponent.

These rules are given as a general guide and any grievance affecting an individual may be raised as a grievance and placed before the Club Committee.
